The Mitigation of CO Present in the Water–Gas Shift Reformate Gas Over IR-TiO2 and IR-ZrO2 Catalysts

CO hydrogenation and oxidation were conducted over Ir supported on TiO2 ZrO2 catalysts using a feed mimicking the water–gas shift reformate stream. The influence of support interaction with catalysts’ redox chemisorption properties activity selectivity evaluated. Both oxidised to CO2 in absence H2, conversion 70% was obtained at 200 °C. For presence H2 these catalysts, favoured due spillover occurring active metal interface, resulting formation interstitials catalysed by Ir. However, both showed promising for hydrogenation. Ir-ZrO2 more active, giving 99.9% conversions from 350 370 °C, high towards CH4 minimal feed. Furthermore, results catalyst that superior compared Ir-TiO2 mainly reducibility its metal. Controlling isoelectric point during synthesis allowed stronger between support, which resulted higher catalytic better dispersions, capacities than catalyst.
